Core Mechanics:
Five days, with three visitors each
There are two types of “wins”: the first is the basic win, which is just surviving until the end of the six-day cycle and having no dangerous Yokai inside the temple.
The second win is intended for players who play the game more than once. The player needs to use clues inside the game to guess the type of Yokai that caused the Yokai outbreak.
In the level there will be props that the player can use to defeat the yokai. The player needs to pay attention to yokai lore they find to figure out ways to defeat the yokai.
List of mechanics:
- Reputation- if you dunk a human with water instead of a Yokai, the human will be mad and you will lose reputation points.
- If your reputation points are low enough, you will be killed by the other humans inside the temple.
- Book/ note system (player finds notes throughout level)
- When you let a character inside the temple, they will occupy one of its rooms and some of their belongings will spawn in there.
- The player can interact with the belongings to get to know more about the characters’ personalities

- Picking things up (tiny inventory of some sort)
- If you open the door to a yokai, you don’t always immediately find out if the person you let in is a human being or a yokai. If it’s a yokai, they can either kill people during the day or come and try to kill you at night
- Killing People During the Day
- Killing People At Night
- If the Yokai kill people during the day, then the player may find the bones of people hidden in different places.
- Clue compilation (some sort of central menu where the player can view all of the clues they have collected so far from books and dialogue)
